PROJECT COMPLETION: JUNE 2022

DETAILS, DETAILS!

Small but mighty, this bathroom is designed for a modern young couple to straddle the lines of classic and contemporary. These two renderings were created to help get an overall idea of how the space will turn out. If you have ever gone into a tile store, (or many home finishings stores for that matter) you have probably walked out with your head spinning about the decisions that must be made. I mean, talk about the things that make you go “Hmmmm…”

IN THIS CASE,

We needed to decide on the tile size for the wall and also we will have to decide the grout color. Luckily, technology helps us figure some of these things ahead of time so you don’t invest your money and end up making decisions without seeing how it will look.

IMAGE #1: This is an example of the 18” x 18” Statuary tile, with a larger grout line. (not my favorite). If you see the next image, you can see that with a smaller grout line and a darker grout color, the look is more cohesive, lending to a better flow with the tile.

IMAGE #2: Shown below, is the 12” x 24” statuary tile with a more muted grout line, blending the lines better, for a less “tiled” feel. And remember, there will be more variation in the tile than we see below, because we are using a natural stone.

WITH ALL THE DECISIONS you have to make along the way, planning is really helpful to making the process more fun and yields a much better overall result. Sometimes planning isn’t in the cards, but if you can, you will be doing yourself a huge service. As you probably know, renovations are stressful enough- so having your plans in place are so important in getting the overall look you envision, on the budget you planned for.
